LeaseLens – AI-Powered Lease Agreement Analyzer

AI-powered LeaseLens analyzes residential leases, extracts clauses, compares norms, and explains risks through clear reports.

Project overview

What this project is about.

LeaseLens is an AI-powered web application that helps users understand residential lease and leave-and-licence agreements. Lease documents often contain lengthy legal language, complex clauses, and jurisdiction-specific conditions that can be difficult for tenants, property owners, and students to review.

Users can upload a lease agreement in PDF, PNG, or JPEG format and select the relevant jurisdiction. LeaseLens extracts the document text using direct PDF extraction or OCR for scanned documents. It then identifies and categorizes important clauses such as rent, security deposit, notice period, termination, maintenance, renewal, utilities, restrictions, and other essential conditions.

The application compares each extracted clause with curated jurisdiction-specific norms. It generates a structured report containing a deviation score, an overall summary, severity classifications, original clause text, plain-English explanations, reasons for flagged clauses, and the norms used for comparison.
LeaseLens classifies clauses into three primary categories: Normal, Worth Noting, and Red Flag. This allows users to quickly identify clauses that appear consistent with the selected norms, require clarification, or deserve careful review.

The platform includes a complete analysis workflow with document upload, extraction progress, clause segmentation, norms lookup, AI analysis, report generation, document history, retry support, and transparent norms inspection. It currently supports Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh jurisdictions and is designed to support additional regions in the future.

The project combines artificial intelligence, document processing, OCR, web development, and database technologies into a practical legal-technology demonstration. It is intended for educational and informational purposes only. LeaseLens does not provide legal advice, determine whether an agreement is legally valid, or replace consultation with a qualified legal professional.
